Health Insurance Policies

Health Insurance policies provide benefits for hospitalization due to illness, disease, or accident. At GBJ Hospital, we have tie-ups with leading third-party administrators (TPAs) and insurance companies to provide a cashless treatment facility. To obtain the complete list, please contact the insurance department during working hours.

Important Guidelines for Insurance Policy

  • As per Insurance Policy, a minimum of 24 hours inpatient stay is mandatory (except for specified daycare procedures).
  • Preliminary investigations are generally not covered under insurance.

Expenses Not Covered by Insurance

The following non-medical expenses are usually not covered under insurance policies:

  • Toiletries, cosmetic items, cotton buds, masks
  • Housekeeping charges, admission charges
  • Attendant/registration charges
  • Medical certificate, MLC charges
  • Attender room charges

Note: For a detailed exclusion list, please refer to your insurer’s guidelines or contact our Insurance Helpdesk.

Room Rent & Billing Policy

If a patient opts for a room beyond their entitled limit (1% of Sum Insured for a normal room and 2% for ICU, inclusive of room & nursing charges for most companies), the insurer/TPA may deduct a proportionate amount from the total bill and not just the difference in room rent. Patients will be expected to pay the additional amount.

Cashless Denial Situations

TPAs/Insurance companies may deny cashless claims in the following cases:

  • Pre-existing ailments
  • Policy-specific exclusions
  • Treatments under the influence of alcohol
  • AIDS/HIV-related treatments
  • Exhaustion of Sum Insured
  • Psychiatric treatments
